We all know that Windows Phone Store is lacking official Google apps which we all use,though we are die hard fans of Microsoft!
And Google does not have any future plans for developing native apps!
gMaps for windows phone is an unofficial Google Maps app. It has some cool features and it can be considered as an alternative for the native app.
The main noticeable feature is fast-resume function. This means that the app won't restart when we relaunch when we tap the tile , but it resume from where we have left before. This feature is a handy one and makes the experience much smoother.
Other features of the app are:-

The app is currently available at version 2.2.0.0. The developers of the app have informed us that the future release will be featuring Offline Mode. Also we can expect some UI improvements and bug fixes. This is great news for gMaps users.The upcoming feature will enable users to navigate even while you are offline.
We too don't know when the update will be rolling out. Meanwhile you can download and try the version 2.2.0.0 available at windows phone store. If you like the app, buy the paid version which is ad free.
